Job Purpose

Manage and lead strategic initiatives that attract new airlines, expand routes, and enhance aeronautical operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimizing resource utilization, and supporting the airport's overall growth and competitive positioning.

Position Accountability Description

Strategic Leadership

  1. Develop and lead the implementation of comprehensive strategies to attract new airlines and expand the number of routes serviced by the airport, ensuring alignment with the airport's growth objectives.
  2. Integrate Traffic Development plans seamlessly into the overall airport strategy, ensuring they support long-term growth objectives and operational excellence.
  3. Shape and direct the development of comprehensive strategies to explore diverse air carrier business models, enhancing DACO's competitive position through robust customer relationships.
  4. Shape the identification and strategic development of opportunities for Low-Cost Carriers (LCCs), including new Origin/Destination routes and additional frequencies for existing carriers, aligning with the airport’s long-term traffic development strategy.
  5. Monitor and analyze financial performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) for traffic development, providing detailed reports to senior management and making informed strategic decisions.

Operational Excellence

  1. Oversee the implementation and optimization of operational processes related to fleet allocation, seat capacity management, and cargo infrastructure utilization, ensuring efficient and effective execution to meet the airport’s strategic objectives.
  2. Lead and participate in airline engagement that is paramount to secure new routes and enhance capacity both for passenger and air freight transportation.
  3. Monitor and assess the performance of the DACO operating model, making data-driven adjustments to enhance operational efficiency and accommodate traffic and facility growth.
  4. Ensure the development and execution of strategies for increasing fleet allocation and seat capacity are aligned with operational goals and effectively support airport expansion and traffic demands
  5. Direct the implementation of best practices in traffic development and cargo operations, including the development of performance metrics, continuous process improvements, and adherence to industry standards.
  6. Oversee the management and maintenance of key operational systems and technologies to ensure they support the department’s goals, improve efficiency, and enhance overall operational performance.
  7. Evaluate and optimize existing cargo and logistics infrastructure to maximize utilization and support growth, making recommendations for upgrades or expansions as necessary.

Stakeholder Management

  1. Lead the establishment and maintenance of direct cooperation lines with key cargo operators, ensuring optimal utilization of existing and planned cargo infrastructure, and fostering strong, collaborative relationships.
  2. Strengthen and manage relationships with key identified airlines, ensuring long-term partnerships and collaboration that align with the airport’s strategic goals.
  3. Endorse and enhance the airport's participation in airline and route development Conferences, , to build industry connections, promote growth, and drive new business opportunities.
  4. Direct the development and leadership of a route committee with aviation stakeholders, channelling strategic actions to stimulate traffic for potential new routes during their early development stages.
  5. Develop and implement marketing and promotion strategies in collaboration with the Marketing Intelligence Director to support air traffic development efforts and airlines’ operations.

Team Leadership and Development

  1. Develop and implement talent management strategies by identifying skill gaps, providing training, and fostering career growth, enhancing employee capabilities and retention within the Traffic Development department.
  2. Foster a high-performance team culture by providing regular feedback, encouraging innovation, and offering development opportunities to team members.
  3. Oversee the development and finalization of the DACO operating model to align with current operations and anticipated traffic and facility growth, ensuring team alignment and successful implementation.
  4. Guide the identification and strategic development of opportunities for Low-Cost Carriers (LCCs), including new Origin/Destination routes and additional frequencies for existing carriers, ensuring team engagement and execution excellence.

Financial Management

  1. Supervise financial planning and budgeting within the department by tracking expenditures and financial performance, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines and financial targets. Develop KPIs to monitor financial health and guide strategic financial decisions.
  2. Manage departmental resources by assessing needs, allocating budgets, and optimizing utilization, ensuring efficient operations and maximum return on investment.
  3. Oversee the generation and distribution of invoices to aero and non-aero customers, ensuring detailed payment terms and efficient payment processes to support financial transparency and accountability.
  4. Monitor and reconcile payments received with bank deposits and financial records, conducting regular audits to verify accuracy and maintain financial integrity

Risk and Compliance Management:

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  1. Evaluate and strategize development opportunities for current key carriers, such as Saudia, to enhance their operations and growth potential at DACO, driving innovation in service offerings and operational efficiencies.
  2. Continuously seek improvement in solutions and tools used by the Air Traffic Development team that supports air traffic development and business case creation.
  3. Shape the creative leveraging of airport capacity and utilization rates to identify and develop new revenue streams, ensuring continuous improvement in the airport's financial performance and competitive positioning.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education Background Bachelor’s degree: Aviation Management or equivalent
Relevant Experience Minimum 12 years of total experience  in aviation, with a focus on traffic development, airport operations, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
Professional Licenses, Accreditations & Certifications

Preferred: International Air Transport Association (IATA) Traffic Management
