Job Purpose

Ensure the effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire detection and firefighting systems across DACO’s airport facilities. Support the team in maintaining high safety standards, ensuring fire protection systems are fully functional, compliant with safety regulations, and ready to respond to any fire-related emergencies.

Position Accountability Description

Strategic Leadership 
1. Develop and implement a strategic plan for the maintenance and optimization of fire fighting systems, ensuring alignment with Dammam Airports safety and operational priorities. 
2. Oversee daily operations of fire fighting systems, ensuring that team activities are coordinated for system functionality, issue resolution, and policy adherence. 
3. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of fire fighting systems, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence. 

Operational Excellence 
5. Lead the maintenance and regular inspection of fire fighting systems, including fire pumps, sprinklers, hydrants, and suppression systems, ensuring they are always operationally ready. 
6. Oversee the development of preventive maintenance schedules for all fire fighting systems to minimize downtime and ensure regulatory compliance. 
7. Ensure the timely repair and replacement of faulty fire safety equipment, minimizing risks associated with system failures or operational disruptions. 
8. Oversee the integration of fire fighting systems with emergency response protocols to ensure swift and coordinated action during fire-related incidents. 
9. Collaborate with airport operations and security teams to ensure that fire safety systems are functioning effectively across all airport facilities. 
10. Conduct regular system tests and fire drills to ensure readiness and identify potential areas of improvement in response protocols. 
11. Oversee external contractors and service providers for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire fighting systems, ensuring that all work adheres to industry standards and timelines. 
12. Oversee the maintenance of detailed records of all maintenance activities, tests, and repairs for auditing and compliance purposes. 
13. Ensure that fire fighting systems are compatible with other airport safety infrastructure, including electrical and security systems, to provide comprehensive protection. 
14. Lead the implementation of energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable practices in fire fighting system operations to minimize environmental impact.

Position Accountability Description

Financial Management 
15. Oversee the budget for the Fire Fighting Systems unit, monitoring expenditures related to maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of mechanical fire safety systems, ensuring financial accountability and resource optimization. 
16. Develop and submit budget reports to senior management, providing insights into cost-saving strategies and financial planning for the replacement or upgrade of fire safety equipment and systems. 

Compliance and Best Practices 
17. Ensure compliance with all local and international fire safety regulations and mechanical standards, integrating best practices to maintain system reliability and safety. 
18. Develop and manage a comprehensive disaster recovery and emergency preparedness plan for fire fighting systems, ensuring quick recovery and response during fire emergencies. 
19. Regularly audit fire safety practices and system performance, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. 

Stakeholder Management 
18. Collaborate with key stakeholders across airport departments to ensure the integration of fire fighting systems with overall airport safety protocols, minimizing disruptions and ensuring operational continuity. 
19. Build and maintain strategic partnerships with external service providers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely delivery of fire safety services and adherence to quality standards. 
20. Engage with external stakeholders such as government regulatory bodies, vendors, and contractors to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards for fire fighting systems. 

Team Leadership and Development 
21. Lead and mentor the fire fighting system maintenance team, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. 
22. Develop and implement training programs to enhance the technical expertise and knowledge of the team, ensuring they are equipped to manage and troubleshoot advanced fire fighting systems. 
23. Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and support team members in meeting their objectives and contributing to overall safety and operational excellence.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education Background Bachelor’s degree: Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field
Relevant Experience

Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in fire detection and firefighting systems maintenance, preferably in an airport or industrial environment.

Professional Licenses, Accreditations & Certifications

Certification in Certification in fire detection and suppression systems
